Huawei Wins R&D 100 Award

Huawei’s wavelength division multiplexer cited as one of the most technologically significant products of the year.

Thursday, November 12, 2009 Huawei, a provider of next-generation telecommunication networks, was recently recognised with an R&D 100 Award for its advanced Optix OSN 6800/OSN 3800 wavelength division multiplexer.

Huawei’s Optix OSN 6800/OSN 3800 wavelength division multiplexer, approved by IBM for GDPS/STP applications, is able to provide dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) for independent data channels using any protocol.

The product places each data channel on a different wavelength (frequency) of light, enabling operators to send numerous channels of data over the same fibre. This solution can increase the amount of traffic carried on computer networks and enable operators to achieve significant cost savings on fibre.
