|
“We will launch 3G services in all 81 provinces of Turkey at the same time,” said Ilter Terzioglu, Chief Network Operations and Regulations Officer of Turkcell.
Turkcell offered the highest bid of 358 million Euros and won the A-type 3G licence in a tender in December 2008, while other operators Vodafone got the B-type and Avea won the C-type licences.
Terzioglu said Turkcell has been investing in 3G for over five years and that Turcell’s all base stations had edge support.
Meanwhile, Ericsson, one of the leading suppliers in telecommunications, confirmed the contract with Turkcell and said in a statement that it would be responsible for all kind of services including system integration, technical support and network building.
