When in Barkhor,Bargain,Drops

Barkhor is a more traditional Tibetan shopping market. It is a market where shopkeepers with small shops and stalls on the street sell many unusual and fascinating items, for both religious and secular uses.

Shopkeepers sell items such as prayer flags, Buddha figures, conch-shell trumpets, rosaries, amulets, fur hats, horse bells, bridles, copper teapots, wooden bowls, inlaid knives, and jewelry inlaid with turquoise and other gems.

Not everyone in Barkhor will be shopping. You may be accompanied by hundreds of prostrating pilgrims. This is a thrilling experience that will certainly remind you that you are in Lhasa.

China price system as 3: Fixed prices by the State, Regulatory prices by the state, and marketing price. And tour shopping most are marketing price.

As in traditional markets throughout much of the world, you can bargain with the local people and buy nice things at lower prices.

Discounts depend of things you want to buy and starting prices. The starting prices are always very high, so you have to beat them down to a third of the original price or even less than that. It depends. In the beginning you start with a price which is so low, you know he/she cannot sell it for. So the dealer goes down with his price and you can go up a little later – in the end both parties keep their face. If your dealer does not want to sell it at your price go on to the next shop. If they are interested in selling it to you, they come after you or call you back.

This can happen several times during negotiating. To enjoy it!
