shenzhen:New traditional Chinese medicine hospitals planned
TWO traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospitals will be built in Shenzhen to further promote traditional healing practices. One of the hospitals will specialize in acupuncture and massage and the other in treating liver disease.
The city-level Acupuncture and Massage Hospital will be an expansion of the TCM unit housed in the Shenzhen TCM Hospital in Luohu District. Covering an area of 30,600 square meters, the hospital will have 200 beds. The site for the TCM Liver Disease Hospital is yet to be decided.
Preparatory work for the construction of two district-level TCM hospitals, one in Longgang District and one in Nanshan District, is under way.
All comprehensive hospitals in Shenzhen, particularly government-funded ones, were required to be equipped with TCM units, said Jiang Hanping, head of the city’s health bureau.
To date, 95 percent of the more than 1,700 hospitals and outpatient departments in the city are providing TCM services while half of the more than 600 community clinics are offering these services for their patients
