Master pieces of the 19th Century European Paintings of the Pérez Simón Collection
“From the Academy to Impressionism — Masterpieces from the 19th Century European Collection of Pérez Simón” is at the highest level of its kind in Guangdong Province. The masterpieces of this exhibition come from Pérez Simón Foundation. All one hundred masterpieces exhibited in China cover the works of the most popular movements and schools of European Art in the 19th Century including Neoclassicism, Romanism, Barbizonism, Realism, Symbolism, Impressionism, Post-impressionism, Pre-Raphaelites, the Oriental School, Aestheticism and others. The representative artists of these schools are well known and include Delacroix, Gérard, Leighton, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Tissot, Rossetti, Millais, Burne-Jones, Turner, Corot, Millet, Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Toulouse-Lautrec, Gauguin, Zorn, Munch and many more. The European art history of the 19th Century is defined by those schools and artists.
The Pérez Simón Foundation was founded by Juan Antonio Simón in the early 1990’s and is a non-profit charity organization. Mr. Pérez Simón is a successful Hispanic-Mexican entrepreneur. As the Mexican telecommunications tycoon, he is listed as the second richest man in the world with 60 billion US dollars. Out of his admiration for European culture and his deep interest in art, Mr. Pérez Simón has made the foundation the basis of one of the biggest non-European private collection institutions.
Based on the history and content of the collection, it is categorized into four parts:
Part One: Classicism and Classical Figure;
