Guangzhou Metro Service to Be Prolonged One More Hour during National Day Holiday

Considering that this October 1st, National Day in China, would see the largest passenger flow, Guangzhou Metro has decided to prolong Metro operation for one more hour during the first three days of this National Day holiday (September 29th, 30th and October 1st).

Since about 2.56 million passengers were predicted to travel by metro, Metro Line 1 to Line 4 would operate one more hour a day with intervals between trains to be 200 seconds, 200 seconds, 184 seconds and 478 seconds respectively. During the remaining four days of the holiday (October 2nd to 5th), the schedule would return to normal.

In addition, the rush hour on September 28th (one day before the National Day holiday) was predicted to cause great pressure on metro transportation. Therefore, the schedule for night operation would be changed to 14:00 for Line 1, Line 2 and Line 3 and there would be an extra train on Line 3.

In order to ease the pressure, more work staff of the company as well as volunteers would be dispatched to the stations with larger populations to keep order. Additionally, 1.09 million tickets have been made in advance and there would be temporary ticket offices, thus helping passengers save a lot of time.
