Donated Clothing and Quilts Transported to Quake-hit Wenchuan in Guangzhou
Seven trucks loaded with 27,194 pieces of clothing and quilts donated by Guangzhou left from the Guangzhou East Railway Station for Weizhou Town of Wenchuan County at 8:45, September 25th. Vice Mayor Chen Guo attended the ceremony and encouraged citizens to donate more clothes and quilts for the victims in the quake-hit areas in Sichuan Province.
Since September 18th when the municipal government issued a circular on donation of clothing and quilts for the victims in quake-hit Sichuan Province, citizens, government departments and organizations in Guangzhou have actively participated in the donation. Within four days, 27,194 pieces of clothing and quilts worth RMB6.4 million were collected.
The donation would last and come to an end on October 20th, 2008. What are mostly needed are quilts, blankets and clothes for victims to protect themselves from the cold. All donations can be sent to the freight yard in the Guangzhou East Railway Station or to the designated offices in all districts or Counties.
